The 2009-2010 University of Akron Steel Bridge Team Takes 5th Place Overall at Nationals
The University of Akron Steel Bridge Team traveled to Purdue University for the national student steel bridge competition. Upon arrival we set up our bridge outside in the engineering mall with the rest of the schools. We walked around and looked at all of the other schools bridges seeing what they brought to the table this year and started brainstorming for improvements to be made to the 2011 steel bridge design. The next day was construction day. We watched the other schools' strategies for the quickest construction for their specific bridge and thought of adjustments to make to our procedure of construction for next year. At the awards banquet we were very pleased that out of forty six teams we received 5th place overall amongst some very prestigious universities, North Dakota State placing 1st.
